Global Report Released on Road Safety
Motor vehicles add convenience to our lives. Across the globe, 1.27 million people die in traffic crashes each year. What’s more, nearly half of those who die (46 percent) are pedestrians, motorcyclists, and cyclists, according to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Status Report on Road Safety.

Virtual Reality Helps CDC Staff Deployed for Outbreak Response Prepare for Stress
In the past, CDC's Office of Health and Safety focused its concerns on protecting deployed staff's physical safety. Today, in addition to their physical safety, OHS recognizes the mental stressors of deployment and has developed a program to watch out for the mental well being of staff during and after deployment.

CDC Responds to Swine Flu Outbreak Among Humans
Last week the CDC activated its Emergency Operations Center to augment the CDC ongoing investigation of human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1). CDC is working very closely with officials in states where human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) have been identified, as well as with health officials in Mexico, Canada and the World Health Organization.
