Summary of Project
The Missouri Department of Health and Human Services (MODHHS) has already developed a web-based system. They have provided detailed information on the four tools that they have developed (e.g., community data profile pages, Missouri information for community assessment (MICA), Priorities MICA, and the Intervention MICA). They have also developed a number of unique rules in MICA to protect confidentiality. They received funding from other sources to develop Priorities MICA and Intervention MICA. They are working on a Healthcare–Associated Infection (HAI) Reporting project. With funds from a previous assessment initiative funding, they have developed a course on Evidence Based Decision Making. They also have an advisory group to help in these projects. The proposed project focuses on redevelopment of the application program, updating data, and providing evidence-based training. The applicant plans to continue their collaborations with their partners, who are also the users of their programs. Examples are provided of the impact of the applicant’s web systems. Local health departments are already using their system for assessment. More states have been trained on the Missouri Information for Community Assessment (MICA) system than any other interactive system in the nation. The system is used by other state agencies, community health planners, researchers, policy analysts, legislators, students, and the general public. Local health department staff relies upon the MODHSS website as their primary source of data for their jurisdiction to define the health status and to identify problematic issues.
