Summary of Project
The Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI) is requesting funding for the Illinois Health Data Dissemination Initiative, which focuses on re-engineering the Illinois data dissemination system through an expanded and improved web-based data query system (WDQS). Project partners include the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Illinois Department of Health Care and Family Services (IDHCFS), and the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). The applicant also plans to convene an advisory committee of public health systems partners, including health care providers, local health departments, universities, and minority health advocates. Two long-term goals of the initiative are to improve Illinois assessment capability through a timely, flexible WDQS that integrates data sources, and to assure that a broad range of users understands and utilizes the system. Current staff includes an executive director to provide on-going leadership and management expertise, and serve as a resource to staff; the IPHI Director of Assessment and Planning, who will support the Advisory Committees on the user needs assessment, including drafting of survey instruments and the key informant interview framework and will conduct the data analysis; and an Office Manager, who will provide clerical and administrative support to the project. The applicant also plans to hire a Project Coordinator and IT Project Manager to assist in the collection and maintenance of program records and evaluation data. The IT Project Manager will provide leadership to the technical components of project, including working closely with the IDPH Web Coordinator to develop and implement overall system design.
