In 1996, the reported rate of gonorrhea in the United States continued to decline. Among men, the rate decreased from 158.7 per 100,000 population in 1995 to 128.49 in 1996; among women, the rate decreased from 140.2 per 100,000 in 1995 to 119.5 in 1996.
