Phase One Milestones

  • Established a focal point for injury prevention and control within the state agency.
  • Formed an Injury Advisory Council.

 
Program Highlights

Technical assistance provided by the state:

  • Regularly work with the community groups funded through a community-based initiative to conduct injury prevention.
  • Assist media with requests (i.e. All Terrain Vehicles).
  • Wrote the Injury and Violence Prevention Chapter for the West Virginia Healthy People 2010. 

Injury activities initiated within the state:

  • Developing a comprehensive injury prevention plan for the state.
  • Working with the State Trauma Coordinator to develop a state trauma registry.

Evaluation activities within the state:

  • Currently evaluating data sets to determine whether the state is on target to meet 2010 Healthy People Objectives.
