Phase Two Milestones

  • Assessed 5 out of the 11 core data sets.

Program Highlights

Technical assistance provided by the state:

  • Responds to requests from hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and local media that come to the Alabama Trauma Registry, within the Injury Prevention Division.

Injury activities initiated within the state:

  • Organized a Suicide Task Force.
  • Organized a Fire Prevention Advisory Council.
  • Worked with the Division of Chronic Disease on the Smart Growth initiative to develop new strategies to reduce obesity and injuries among children.
  • Developing a hospital discharge database in collaboration with the State Health Planning and Development Agency (SHPDA).
  • Working with Injury Advisory Council.

Evaluation activities within the state:

  • Conducted an inventory of injury prevention and control programs of state agencies.
