Activities Proposed for FY 05

Food Safety, Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Influenza Surveillance and Response, National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, West Nile Virus, and General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity


Key Performance Indicators

Foodborne Disease
  • Weekly Epi Reports—the HAWK Quality Assurance Coordinator generates and internally distributes weekly frequency distribution reports on specific enteric diseases.
Hepatitis Prevention and Control
  • Completion of yearly report from HAV and HBV quarterly reports.
  • Assess the completeness of Hepatitis C patient test data from the Hawk Surveillance System and HCV probable data from an Access database.
Influenza Surveillance and Response
  • The number of testable samples will be counted and analyzed at the end of each season by the influenza coordinator in coordination with the virologist by May of 2005 (or the end of the current influenza season).
National Electronic Disease Surveillance System
  • Increase system enhancements of the HAWK system functionality and improve security.
  • Increase the number of local health departments and Bioterrorism Regional partners who are active users of the HAWK system.
West Nile Virus
  • Produce effective West Nile Virus guidelines for immunocompromised individuals.
General Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity
  • Resumed regular monthly face to face meetings between KDHEL and ESS to improve communications and understanding between the two Divisions, which are physically separated.
