Activities Proposed for FY 05
Hepatitis Prevention and Control, Influenza Surveillance and Response, National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, and West Nile Virus
Key Performance Indicators
Hepatitis Prevention and Control
- Work with immunization staff and other collaborating programs to ensure availability of hepatitis A and B vaccines to high-risk individuals.
- Screening of high risk individuals for hepatitis C will be integrated into HIV screening and counseling programs of all six CDPH STD clinics. Funding has been secured for 1,000 tests at the IDPH laboratory for use in the coming year.
- Include agency representatives in Task Force meetings to address current issues pertaining to HCV in Chicago.
Influenza Surveillance and Response
- The Epi II will communicate between the sentinel physicians and CDPH, and between CDPH and the influenza surveillance coordinator at the CDC.
- The accuracy of our typing and sub typing will reflect this program's effectiveness.
National Electronic Disease Surveillance System
- Effectiveness will be measured through the enhancement of notifiable condition surveillance and disease control capabilities.
West Nile Virus
- The epidemiologist II will develop a streamlined report of all surveillance activities reviewing the weekly status of human, animal, and bird infections, and those mosquito and bird surveillance activities as conducted by CDPH.
