NaSH Report

What's New in NaSH Version 3.14

Note that NaSH Version 3.13 has never been distributed to users:
Software releases move directly from v3.12 to v3.14.

HCWs living outside the United States:
In pervious versions of the software, State and Zipcode collected on the HCW Baseline form only allowed U.S. states and territories, and U.S. formatted numeric zipcodes.  Users may now enter states, provinces, and territories for Canada and Mexico that border the U.S.  Zipcodes may now contain alphabetic characters and the edit mask that placed the dash (-) in the sixth position has been removed to accommodate postal codes other than U.S.P.S. format.  Since this information is for the users benefit and not shared with the CDC, users may store whatever data is useful to them.

Entering Sharps Brand Name:
Users may enter a list of brand names for sharps that they define. The list established is available during data entry on the Exposures to Blood/Body Fluid and Bloodborne Pathogen event form. When the software is first installed, the list has been “seeded” with an abridged list of brands obtained from FDA. Users are free to delete those that are unwanted and add brands that are specific to their own institution.  Many helpful tools to identify brand names of FDA approved devices are available on the World Wide Web at FDA Device Listing.

Value changes for variables:
The following table shows a listing of variables and changes to existing variables.
Changes were made to improve sorting of output during analysis.  Data that was previously collected will be updated during the installation process to be consistent with the new values.  Users will need to enter the new codes during data entry for new records (e.g. Entering 01 instead of just 1 as done previously).  Values not listed below will remain unchanged.
