Infection Control for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers In the African Health Care Setting
This reference manual, developed collaboratively by CDC and the World Health Organization, helps African health facilities make advance preparations for responding with appropriate precautions when a VHF case is suspected, and serves as a rapid reference when a VHF case appears at a health facility where no previous VHF preparations have been made. The precautions described make use of materials such as household bleach, plastic buckets, locally available cloth and ordinary cake soap, that are available even in remote areas. The many illustrations, straightforward, step-by-step instructions and aids help make the manual easy to use. Although the manual is targeted for African healthcare settings, the basic VHF control and barrier nursing information can be useful for other settings. The manual is also available in French and Portuguese.
