Laboratory testing showed that all of these 57 patients
had thrombocytopeniaagain, this is part of the case
definition.
- Increased capillary permeability was documented in three
ways (in addition to documenting effusions):
- 60% had hemoconcentration, defined as 20% or greater
change in hematocrit.
- 35% had hypoproteinemia.
- 67% had hypoalbuminemia.
In addition, there is commonly liver involvement in DHF,
with elevated AST and ALT levels. Less often, there may
be an elevated bilirubin.
- Both the PT and PTT may be elevated; the PTT is more
frequentlyand usually more severelyelevated
than the PT.
