With the successful integration of hepatitis B vaccine into the childhood immunization schedule and the subsequent decline in acute hepatitis B among children, the incidence of acute hepatitis B now is highest among adults. In adults, hepatitis B virus (HBV) transmission occurs primarily among unvaccinated persons with sexual and drug-related behavioral risk factors. To ensure that adults at risk for HBV infection receive hepatitis B vaccination, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has released updated guidelines for adult vaccination. The guidelines provide setting-specific recommendations as well as new implementation strategies in support of those recommendations. This Web site offers information and resources targeted to each of the different settings in which adult hepatitis B vaccination is recommended, including: Settings Serving Adults
at High Risk - STD treatment facilities, HIV testing and treatment
centers, correctional facilities ...more...
