NHANES-CMS Linked Data Tutorial

Describe, Locate, & Download Feasibility Files

Purpose

NHANES-CMS linked data feasibility files can be used to calculate maximum sample sizes. This module provides background on the structure, location, and use of the feasibility files.  It will also provide an example of how to assess the maximum sample size available in an NHANES-CMS linked data set.

Task 1: Explain the Importance of Feasibility Files

NHANES-CMS linked data feasibility files can be used to calculate maximum sample sizes by demographic and health status variables collected in the survey that may be of interest. This task will demonstrate why it is important to calculate a sample size using the feasibility files prior to starting your research project.

Task 2: Locate & Download Feasibility Files and Documentation

You will need to locate and download the corresponding feasibility data files and documentation from the NCHS website for the NHANES cycles that are included in your research project.

Task 3: Locate & Download NHANES Files and Documentation

Using the steps in the Continuous NHANES Web Tutorial, you will locate and download the NHANES Demographic dataset and documentation.
