The instructions are designed to help you access the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey Emergency Department (NHAMCS-ED) data and documentation, to identify injury records, and to calculate injury visit rates. The instructions describe how to obtain and use NHAMCS-ED data for all years beginning with 1995. Specific examples are shown for data year 2004.
