CDC Position Announcement: Director, CDC’s Division of STD Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention is seeking candidates for the position of Director, Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP). As a recognized expert and authority in the field of sexually transmitted diseases, the incumbent serves as the principal medical/scientific resource for the CDC in all public health aspects of STD and a member of the Center's senior leadership team, coordinating and providing leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a national policy for prevention of STDs. 

The incumbent also is responsible for managing DSTDP’s programmatic activities, providing scientific leadership in the development and implementation of division policy, program plans, and research goals and objectives.

Moreover, the incumbent oversees an annual budget of $160 million and directs a staff of approximately 250 field employees and 160 headquarters personnel directly through 30 subordinate supervisors who are responsible to the incumbent for carrying out a nationwide STD prevention program. 

Educational Requirements
Applicants must possess Doctorate of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and a current medical license, or a Ph.D. or other earned doctorate in a public health related field (disease prevention or related health sciences, public health, epidemiology, social or behavioral science.)

Specialized Experience
Applicants must possess at least one year of professional specialized experience which will enable them to successfully perform the duties of the position. Evidence of this specialized experience must be included with an application.
