Special Bacteriology Reference Laboratory (SBRL)
The Special Bacteriology Reference Laboratory (SBRL) provides reference services for the following unusual, rare, or novel Gram-positive or Gram-negative bacteria:
- Aerobic Actinomycetes (Ex: Nocardia spp., Streptomyces spp.)
- Fastidious bacteria (Ex: Capnocytophaga spp.)
- Gram-positive rods (Ex: Corynebacterium spp. EXCEPT C. diphtheria)
- Gram-negative non-fermentative rods (Ex: Stenotrophomonas spp.)
Zoonoses and Select Agent Laboratory (ZSAL)
The Zoonoses and Select Agent Laboratory (ZSAL) of the Bacterial Special Pathogens Branch (BSPB) provides a variety of reference activities for the following bacteria:
- Bacillus anthracis
- Leptospira spp. (including L. interrogans)
- Brucella spp. (including B. abortus, B. canis, B. melitensis, B. suis)
- Burkholderia spp. (including B. mallei, B. pseudomallei)
