Number of ill passengers out of total number of passengers: 69 of 1427 (4.84%)

Number of ill crew out of total number of crew: 2 of 606 (0.33%)

Predominant symptoms: diarrhea and vomiting

Actions: In response to the outbreak, Holland America Line and the crew aboard the ship took the following actions:

• increased cleaning and disinfection procedures,
• sent daily updates to CDC and continued to do so until the number of ill people returned to expected levels.

During the subsequent voyage (4/22-5/11), the number of people that reported symptoms of gastrointestinal illness returned to expected levels.
