National Environmental Public Health Tracking - Network Implementation
Program Announcement # EH06-601
Program Description:
The Missouri Environmental Health Tracking Program (EPHTP) participates with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other national, state, and local partners in development of a national and state surveillance system to track environmental hazards and potentially related diseases. The Missouri EPHTP furthers these relationships by
- Partnering with Missouri’s public housing authorities to create an inventory of public housing property addresses and geographic information system map layers across geographic and political boundaries.
- Assisting the St. Louis City Building Division by inspecting record applications and by geocoding existing data for inclusion into the Missouri Health Strategic Architectures and Information Cooperative (MOHSAIC) Lead Application, as well as updates to the existing database.
- Partnering with the Bureau of Environmental Epidemiology’s Indoor Air Surveillance program to create a custom database to store and track the results of radon testing in Missouri’s public schools and private residences.
- Incorporating managed care organization access and case notes into MOHSAIC's Childhood Lead Application.
Core content areas developed by the Missouri EHTP for inclusion on the state network include
- Asthma and heart attack,
- Blood lead levels in children,
- Drinking water contaminants,
- Air quality, and
- Vital statistics.
