National Environmental Public Health Tracking - Network Implementation
Program Announcement # EH06-601
Program Description:
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (MDPH) implementation plan proposes to incorporate statewide data on all required and optional core health and environmental measures. The data will be available through a dynamic interface in tabular and graph (charts, maps) formats, together with technical and informational messaging and links to external Web sites, including the CDC national portal. Initially, Massachusetts Public Health Tracking will include the following core content:
- Asthma and heart attacks,
- Cancer,
- Blood lead levels in children,
- Drinking water contaminants,
- Air quality, and
- Vital statistics.
The Massachusetts Tracking Program will provide localized data about the core measures listed above, and others on their state Network, including:
- School-based pediatric asthma prevalence,
- Asthma hospitalization and myocardial infarction hospitalization data at the census tract level,
- Drinking water data reported at the city/town level or as defined by the public water supply distribution area,
- Cancer data and special mapping features at the census tract level, and
- Blood lead data in children at the census tract level.
