Health Studies

The CDC Health Studies Program (HSP) is a leader in addressing emerging environmental health issues. Specific program activities include:

  • Conducting epidemiologic investigations in response to outbreaks and disease clusters that are believed to have environmental causes.
  • Conducting epidemiologic studies to better understand the relationship between human health and emerging environmental hazards.
  • Performing chemical and radiological surveillance.
  • Responding to environmental disasters.

The HSP also provides technical assistance and develops tools, resources, and trainings to help build the environmental epidemiology capacity of domestic and international public health partners.
