Name of Session:
Session D 12
Environmental Health Leadership in Action
Description of Session
Fragmentation of environmental health programs has highlighted the importance of cohesive leadership to tackle traditional and emerging environmental public health issues. ASTHO has worked to bring together state environmental health directors to build leadership, create a national identity, and improve environmental public health practice.
The State Environmental Health Directors (SEHD) are working together with CDC and other state, local, and national partners to address priority environmental health issues facing the future of our nation. Session participants will learn about ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships among state environmental health leaders and gain insight into national environmental health priorities. Attendees will also be given a picture of environmental health programs and delve into a discussion of enforcement and partnerships for compliance, connecting public health and regulatory actions, and discovering ongoing efforts to bring environmental public health accomplishments front and center for policymakers and the public.
