The CDC Growth Charts, released in May 2000, consist of revised
versions of the growth charts developed by the National Center for Health
Statistics (NCHS) in 1977 and the addition of the Body Mass Index
(BMI)-for-age charts.
The development of the growth charts was a collaborative effort between
the Division of Health Examination Statistics in the National Center for
Health Statistics (NCHS) and the Division of Nutrition and Physical
Activity (DNPA) in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and
Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) at the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC).
