Training Module: Using the BMI-for-Age Growth Charts

Introduction

The 2000 CDC Pediatric Growth Charts include the Body Mass Index (BMI)-for-age growth charts that are recommended for use with all boys and girls aged 2 to 20 years. This module presents the rationale for the use of the BMI-for-age charts, discusses characteristics of the BMI-for-age growth charts, and provides an opportunity for the practical application of calculating BMI, and the plotting and interpreting of BMI-for-age by using case studies.
