The National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) was established in April 2001 as a result of The Children's Health Act of 2000. Since its establishment, NCBDDD has continued to bring a public health focus to the fields of birth defects, child development, blood disorders, and disability across the lifespan.
In 2011, NCBDDD and our partners are launching a series of events and activities spanning the year to honor the achievement of this milestone of progress, and showcase the exceptional work of our collective organizations.

NCBDDD’s 10 Years of Service: Closing Event—A Thank You
Tuesday, November 1, 2011; 6:00 – 8:00 pm
All year long NCBDDD and our partners have hosted events around the country to focus on the milestones, advancements and future possibilities in the fields of birth defects, disabilities and blood disorders.
On November 1st at the closing event, NCBDDD thanked our partners for ten years of service together, and for creating an experience that will launch our next ten years.
During the reception, actors told stories of reality and hope of living with a birth defect, disability or blood disorder. Filmmakers documented the words of those attending who felt inspired to share their own personal stories. An artist created an original work of art and many attending the reception made a contribution to the piece. It was an evening that inspired.
