The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) and the March of Dimes in collaboration with other national organizations sponsored a National Summit on Preconception Care in Atlanta, GA on June 21-22, 2005. This Summit served as the catalyst for developing national recommendations for preconception care.
Attendees participated interactively to contextualize important and emerging public health and clinical issues in preconception care. Discussed were the latest science, clinical tools, and policies. Roundtable and breakout sessions provided opportunities for in-depth learning and discussion.
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this conference, participants will be able to:
Describe methods for integrating preconception care into existing programs serving women.
Use communications, education, and training tools to enhance delivery of preconception care.
Develop programs and policies that meet the needs of all women of childbearing age, as well as those at highest risk.
