Lesson Plans
about Muscular Dystrophy
Muscular Dystrophy and Pedigree Charts
This lesson
plan gives students the opportunity to understand and practice using
pedigree charts when looking at how muscular dystrophy is passed from
one generation to another. This is a great lesson plan to incorporate
into a genetics curriculum after students are familiar with basic
genetic principles.
Sex-Linked Chromosomal Disorders
Pedigrees
showing heredity and family traits of sex-linked chromosomal disorders
will be discussed to understand how these disorders are inherited. Based
on this information, students will create projects on the different
types of muscular dystrophy.
