Notice to Readers
Title Change of Four Centers Within CDC
The Secretary of Health and Human Services has authorized
CDC to include ``National'' in retitling four centers, as
follows: the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and
Health Promotion, the National Center for Environmental Health
and Injury Control, the National Center for Infectious Diseases,
and the National Center for Prevention Services. The National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the National
Center for Health Statistics were brought into CDC under previous
organizational changes; these two organizations were named
previously by legislation. With these current changes, CDC
programs are now uniformly titled to reinforce the similarity in
scope among major organizational components.
