Core Violence and Injury Prevention Program and grantees continue with significant milestones during the first year of the cooperative agreement
The 28 Core Violence and Injury Prevention Program (VIPP) funded states identified their respective injury and violence focus areas. These focus areas will be used to guide strategic planning for implementation of best practice interventions throughout the cooperative agreement and to develop health impact measures. Key areas of focus selected by funded states include falls among older adults, prescription painkiller overdose, motor vehicle injury, and child maltreatment.
The five Core VIPP Regional Network Leaders (RNL) have quickly established their regional networks to connect state injury and violence prevention programs across all states in their region. The RNL (Massachusetts, Maryland, Kansas, North Carolina, and Washington State) have already convened inaugural regional network meetings and facilitated collaborative partnerships with research centers, states, and national partners to develop action plans and peer learning objectives.
