FOA Title: Development of the National Violent Death Reporting System
Purpose
The purpose of NVDRS is to generate public health surveillance information at the national, state, and local levels that is more detailed, useful, and timely than is currently available. This information will help develop, inform, and evaluate violence prevention strategies at the state level. The proposed system builds upon a pilot system, the National Violent Injury Statistics System (NVISS) that has been under development since 1999.
