Nutrition Survey Toolkit

The Survey Toolkit for Nutritional Assessment was developed by CDC’s International Micronutrient Malnutrition Prevention and Control Program (IMMPaCt) to provide epidemiological support to countries to assess and monitor the elimination of micronutrient malnutrition. This toolkit provides a set of resources collected from many sources, including public health specialists from the CDC and other agencies.

Indicators and Methods for Cross-Sectional Surveys of Vitamin and Mineral Status of Populations

This survey manual [PDF-1.32Mb] by CDC and the Micronutrient Initiative (MI) is intended for program managers responsible for designing and implementing surveys to assess vitamin and mineral deficiencies; also intended for others involved in planning, implementing, analyzing, and reporting survey results.

A United Call to Action on Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies

This United Call to Action report by the global nutrition community, including IMMPaCt, calls for action against vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and shows how micronutrient interventions are a low-cost solution to improved health in the developing world.

Home Fortification Manuals

  • Micronutrient Powders (MNP): this manual provides information on MNP formulations and makes recommendations for the composition of MNPs for treating or preventing vitamin and mineral deficiencies among infants and young children (6-23 months of age) and pregnant and lactating women in low- and middle-income countries where micronutrient deficiency disorders are public health problems.
  • Monitoring Systems for Home Fortification Interventions: this manual provides guidance on developing and implementing monitoring systems for home fortification interventions and projects with home fortification strategies.
