1 These numbers do not represent the actual number of persons living with AIDS. Rather, these numbers are point estimates of the number of persons living with AIDS derived by subtracting the estimated cumulative number of deaths in persons with AIDS from the estimated cumulative number of persons diagnosed with AIDS. Estimated AIDS incidence and estimated deaths are adjusted for reporting delays, but not for incomplete reporting. The year 2001 is the most recent year for which reliable estimates are available. See Technical Notes.
2 Totals include estimates of the number of persons whose race/ethnicity is unknown. Because column totals were calculated independently of the values for the subpopulations, the values in each column may not sum to the column total.
