Replicating Effective Programs

How are REP-packaged interventions disseminated?

Most REP-packaged interventions are or will be disseminated through the Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project. The DEBI project is a national-level strategy to provide high-quality training and ongoing technical assistance for selected evidence-based HIV/STD prevention interventions, including those packaged by REP, to state and community HIV/STD program staff. For interventions currently disseminated by CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project, a training calendar with dates, times, and locations of training courses, along with information on signing up for a specific training, is available at www.effectiveinterventions.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC REP-packaged interventions not currently disseminated by DEBI may be available through STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers or directly from the researcher.

Back to Questions

What role do researchers have in disseminating their REP-packaged interventions?

Researchers choose how their interventions will be disseminated. Three options are to (1) work with CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project to plan a marketing, training, and technical assistance strategy for their intervention; (2) disseminate their intervention themselves or with other partners; or (3) use multiple dissemination strategies.

Back to Questions

Where can I find a list of dates, times, and locations of training courses?

For interventions currently disseminated by CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project, a training calendar with dates, times, and locations of training courses, along with information on signing up for a specific training, is available at www.effectiveinterventions.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC The western region’s STD/HIV Prevention Training Center provides training on the RESPECT intervention. More information on RESPECT training is available at www.stdhivtraining.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC

Back to Questions

How do I sign up for training?

You can register for training courses at www.effectiveinterventions.orgLink to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC for interventions currently disseminated by CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project. For the RESPECT intervention, please visit www.stdhivtraining.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC For other REP-packaged interventions, you can contact the intervention’s researchers to make individual arrangements.

Back to Questions

How do I order REP intervention packages?

For interventions currently disseminated by CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project, the packages are available with training and technical assistance on how to implement the intervention. To sign up for a DEBI training course, please visit www.effectiveinterventions.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC For other REP-packaged interventions, you can contact the intervention’s researcher to make arrangements for purchase at www.cdc.gov/hiv/topcs/prev_prog/rep/ordering.htm

Back to Questions

Who is eligible for training and technical assistance from DEBI?

Health departments and HIV prevention community-based organizations in the United States and US territories are eligible for training and technical assistance from DEBI.

Back to Questions

How do I get materials to preview without going to a training course?

Fact sheets are available on each intervention at our REP Packages by Topics page and www.effectiveinterventions.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC For each intervention currently disseminated by CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI) project, an agency self-assessment readiness tool and starter kit are available at www.effectiveinterventions.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC

Back to Questions

Can videos used with the intervention be purchased separately?

CDC recommends that the videos not be used alone. For example, the VOICES/VOCES intervention package recommends that the video be used in conjunction with a facilitated small-group discussion. Therefore, CDC does not make the videos for this intervention available separately. The VOICES/VOCES videos are part of an intervention package, which is available with training and technical assistance from www.effectiveinterventions.org.Link to a non-governmental site and does not necessarily represent the views of the CDC
