Alabama's Program In Action

Providing HIV Prevention Education

• Establishing HIV prevention education training programs in areas of the state with the highest prevalence of HIV/AIDS and teenage pregnancies.
   
• Providing individualized technical assistance to local education agency staff on developing HIV prevention lesson plans and parent education programs.
   
• Partnering with organizations to provide HIV prevention education programs for students living in areas of the state disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS.

Conducting the Youth Risk Behavior Survey

• Collaborating with the Alabama Department of Health to disseminate YRBS results to a wide variety of stakeholders, including through a joint press conference.
   
• Comparing the most recent YRBS results with previous results and using changes in the data to guide program decisions.
   
• Engaging local education agencies in discussions about how to use YRBS data to inform policies and programs.
