Talking Points

Students who have been victims of child abuse, dating violence, sexual assault, bullying, harassment, or other forms of violence, and those who have observed violence in their homes and communities usually need intervention and help. Schools can have systems for identifying and helping these students. They can establish confidential and nonjudgmental mechanisms for students to report that they have been abused, harassed, or injured by a member of the school community. For students at high risk for injury or violence, schools can provide targeted prevention programs and services or link students to community services.
