Injury & Violence: Slide Presentation

Slide 25

The Breadth of the Guidelines, text below.

B a c k  |  N e x t

Talking Points

The guidelines include recommendations for preventing unintentional injury, violence, and suicide in and outside school. They cover elementary, middle, and senior high school issues. They are broader than the heath education curriculum or installing devices such as metal detectors. Instead, they cover the social and physical environment, health and physical education, family and community involvement, staff development, health services, and crisis response. Recommendations are based on scientific evidence where it exists, and on theory and best practices where it is missing. Not every school can implement every recommendation; the guidelines try to balance the ideal school program with what is practical.
