Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) Public Comment Process

Public Comment Process

The MAHC was developed as a set of modules on specific topics that each were given a 60-day public comment period for the public and other stakeholders. The Steering Committee and appropriate Technical Committee(s) reviewed the comments and revised the modules as needed.

The revised MAHC modules have now been integrated into a single "knitted" document and this complete version is now posted for another 60-day public comment period to allow reviewers to review sections across modules and cross-check the entire MAHC for completeness. After the May 27, 2014 close of this second of two public comment periods, the complete MAHC draft will be revised based on public comment, cleared through CDC, and re-posted to the MAHC website as the MAHC 1st Edition. The MAHC 1st Edition will be systematically updated on a periodic basis to incorporate new partner input, additional best practices, and the latest science.

Current Versions of the MAHC

The current version of the MAHC that is now open for public comment is posted on the MAHC for Review page.

Submitting Public Comments

Are you an environmental or other public health professional, aquatics facility designer or operator, scientist specializing in waterborne disease or injury prevention, other professional, or a member of the general public interested in protecting and advancing public health at aquatic facilities? If so, you are invited to review the MAHC that is now open for public comment and submit those comments. To provide comments, download and fill out the comment form [Word - 4 pages] by typing your comments into the form and saving it. Unless there is new, peer-reviewed, scientific data to support a change request, the MAHC committees discourages submission of new comments that were addressed during the previous comment period. Please review prior public comments if in doubt as to whether the comment has previously been submitted.

NOTE: Only comments sent in this form will be accepted.
Send the form by midnight eastern standard time on the submission deadline:
