Tips for Specific Audiences

Health and Housing Professionals
Because the healthy homes approach takes a more holistic view of health and safety conditions in homes, healthy homes workers will need knowledge and skills to address multiple ways to improve the home environment.

Parents with Young Children
Childhood health and safety problems include injuries, maltreatment, asthma, and unhealthy growth and behavior. Children can learn healthy behaviors that will last a lifetime.

People with Disabilities
People with disabilities can experience barriers in the home that make living a healthy, independent life difficult. Homes can be designed, built, and modified to help people with disabilities live active, healthy lives.

Older Adults
Older adults can suffer from injuries, such as from falls, and chronic illnesses. Many of these injuries and illnesses can be prevented by changing behavior and altering the home.
