- Receive specific patient management guidance based on the scenario you have entered
- Obtain appropriate antibiotic regimens for obstetric patients requiring intrapartum prophylaxis
Download "Prevent Group B Strep" free from the CDC iTunes App Store.
Note: An app for Android devices is in development.
Version: 1.0 (Size: 18.8MB)
Requirements: compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad; requires iOS 4.0 or later.
Updates: Changes in the guidelines and enhancements to the app itself will be released through app updates. (A red circle with a number inside at the corner of the App Store icon indicates you have updates available for one or more apps.)
The app was developed in collaboration with and endorsed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Intended users include those providing obstetric or neonatal care (e.g., obstetricians, neonatologists, nurse-midwives, family practitioners, neonatal nurses, etc.)
Use the "Prevent Group B Strep" app to achieve better implementation of evidence-based guidelines to prevent cases of GBS disease.
Extensive beta-testing of "Prevent Group B Strep" was performed. In addition to GBS subject matter experts at CDC, stakeholders from ACOG, AAP, ACNM, and AAFP informed the app development. Additional beta-testers, including several private obstetric providers as well as pediatric and obstetric providers in training, were involved in content development and design of the user interface.
User feedback is encouraged. If you have suggestions for improving the app, please e-mail RDB@cdc.gov.
If you do not have a device that supports the app, you can access a web version when connected to the internet through a mobile device or computer. If you use the web version of "Prevent Group B Strep," we recommend adjusting the screen size to look like a smartphone for a better user experience.
