Global Health Security: Partners

Improving global heath security is a shared responsibility and involves working collaboratively with many other U.S. government agencies, multilateral institutions, ministries of health and other international organizations. The Programs and Partners Team within the Global Health Security Branch is the lead for facilitating a wide range of cooperative agreements and activities with programs across the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other agencies including:

  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Global Affairs (OGA);
  • U.S. Department of State (DOS), Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP);
  • U.S. Department of Defense (DOD, including Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA));
  • U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), including the Emerging Pandemic Threats (EPT) program;
  • Other U.S. Government departments and agencies; and
  • The World Health Organization (WHO) and other international and multilateral organizations.

The Program and Partners Team provides leadership, coordination, management and oversight of interagency agreements and works with programs across CDC to facilitate the development of statements of work and work plans, technical agency reports, financial reports, and briefing documents ensuring that CDC efforts under the agreements are well coordinated and engage the appropriate CDC partners. The team is critical to ensuring transparency across the agency, promoting access to interagency funding, and management of the process. The team accomplishes its facilitation and coordination role through staff in Atlanta that have programmatic responsibility for interagency agreements, planning, and funding, as well as liaison staff assigned to departments and agencies in Washington, DC.
