CDC Global HIV/AIDS Activities - Caribbean Regional Office
Partnering to Fight HIV/AIDSThe CDC Global AIDS Program Caribbean regional office opened in 2002 to provide regional technical assistance to build human resource and infrastructure capacity, as well as sustainable HIV/AIDS programs in the Caribbean. Key areas of focus include building capacity in strategic information; HIV testing and counseling; HIV care and treatment; and laboratory.
In 2003, US President George W. Bush announced the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Caribbean regional office became a part of this unified US Government effort to turn the tide against the epidemic.
