Council to Improve Foodborne Outbreak Response (CIFOR)
About CIFOR
The Council to Improve Foodborne Outbreak Response (CIFOR) is a multidisciplinary working group convened to increase collaboration across relevant areas of expertise to reduce the burden of foodborne illness in the United States. CIFOR has developed and produced Guidelines for Foodborne Outbreak and Response. This publication provides consensus guidelines for the overall approach to foodborne disease outbreaks, including preparation, detection, investigation, control, and follow-up.
The Guidelines also describe the roles of all key organizations in foodborne disease outbreaks. The CIFOR Food Safety Clearinghouse is an online repository offering food safety resources developed by state and local health departments, laboratories, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, and governmental agencies.
