Recommendations by the Task Force on Community Preventive Services (The Guide to Community Preventive Services/The Community Guide)
A systematic review of published studies conducted by a team of experts on behalf of the independent, nonfederal Task Force found that community water fluoridation was effective in reducing tooth decay among populations. On the basis of strong evidence of effectiveness, the Task Force recommends that community water fluoridation be included as part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent or control tooth decay in communities. Two publications provide information on the process, findings, and recommendations of the Task Force's review.
