Activity: Primary Health Care: a comprehensive triage process for influenza.

Description: Daily triage process for phone calls from clinic patients with at-risk influenza contact or with new onset flu-like illness during low volume as well as during high volume levels of community contagion.  The triage process integrates initial contact criteria for prophylaxis chemotherapy for at risk contacts, early season office based testing of symptomatic patients for influenza, MD clinic visit vs ER visit decision rules and high volume influenza contagion treatment criteria for triage nurse along with return to work certification criteria. By having a similar basis for low volume as well as for the high volume states of daily triage, the potential for diminished responsiveness during peak epidemic demand levels is diminished.
