Date/Time: 12-1-2013, 7:00AM and 12-29-13, 1:00PM

Activity: Indiana State Department of Health and Colts Join Blue Prevent the Flu Campaign

Description: The ISDH has partnered with the NFL Indianapolis Colts and developed an influenza campaign titled Join Blue-Prevent the Flu. Blue is the Indianapolis Colts mascot. Most of the components listed below are at all home Colts games. However, for this posting the December 1st is a home game between the Colts and Titans. There will be a strong ISDH/Colts partnership digital presence (Twitter, Facebook, health fair, website) leading up to and during National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW). During the week of December 2-9th, the ISDH will have presence on Colts.com with a pencil ad above their feature story reminding viewers “Don’t Get Sidelined, Get Your influenza Vaccine”. Also on the pencil ad will be a click-through that directs them to a flu shot locator. During the week of NIVW, starting December 9-16, the ISDH will have one of five feature stories on Colts.com home page. The feature story will have a picture of Blue the mascot, and click-throughs for a flu shot locator, influenza article, and information about the twitter hashtag #ColtsClean that will enter them for a chance to win by submitting a hand washing picture. The ISDH and the Colts have collaborated and developed large hand washing mirror signs and hand sanitizer station signage for the bathroom mirrors and sanitizer stations throughout Lucas Oil Stadium (LOS). On the signage, visitors to LOS are asked to tweet pictures of themselves washing their hands to #ColtsClean for a chance for their tweeted picture to be included in the final regular season gameday program on 12.29.13. Go to http://bit.ly/I1dVkC to see the :15 second video that is played during a Colts game time out and go to http://bit.ly/11ZSd8y to see the Colts and ISDH signage and game day ad. The ISDH has also placed full page flu education ad in all Colts home gameday programs. The ISDH and Colts partnership was developed to market disease prevention, communication, and health education about influenza by using the marketing power of the Indianapolis Colts football organization. The Colts have very powerful communication outreach with a wide viewing and attendance audience that is difficult to reach for adult and teenager influenza vaccinations.

Activity: NFL Indianapolis Colts Bleed Blue Blood Drive Health Fair

Description: The Indiana State Department of Health is participating in the Colts Bleed Blue Blood Drive and Health Fair during National Influenza Vaccination Week. We will be providing education about influenza and how flu vaccination saves lives. Throughout the health fair and during a :20 second time out a public service announcement via a "commercial/video" will be seen and heard on the large jumbotron in Lucas Oil Stadium. The video can be viewed on the Indiana State Department of Health's You Tube channel at http://bit.ly/I1dVkC. The ISDH has created this multi-faceted partnership to bring awareness about the importance of influenza vaccination, but also by washing hands, covering coughs and sneezes and staying home when sick. Examples of our developed signage and game day program ads that feature the desired influenza reduction behaviors and about antibiotic resistance are available at http://bit.ly/11ZSd8y. Also during NIVW ISDH will have the feature story on Colts.com advising people to "Get Influenza Vaccine, Not Sidelined" with a click through to a flu shot locator.
