Description

In respect to influenza efforts in the Northeast region of Arizona, on Navajoland, we are busy as ants in the spring. We have clinics and hospitals providing H1N1 and Seasonal Flu Vaccinations daily. We are planning a full day vaccination for Navajo Division of Health employees in the week of January 10. We have scheduled the second vaccinations for Headstart Children on the New Mexico side of the reservation beginning January 10th. We are working on the schedule for Headstart H1N1 Vaccinations on the Arizona and Utah side. We have four transit buses presently running with Flu Fighter messaging. These buses run daily between Tuba City in Arizona, and Shiprock, Gallup and Crownpoint in New Mexico. We plan to continue the influenza prevention messages in a larger format for the next six months. We are working on billboards at five sites on and around the Navajo Reservation. These billboards have flu prevention messaging. Last week we ran a full page ad in the Navajo Times. We are working the full page ad into posters. We have incorporated the Stop the Spread logo that the Arizona Department of Health Services is using for influenza vaccination and prevention messaging onto all of our billboards.

Activity Help Protect Your Child from Flu!
Description

The National Head Start Association recognizes the need for increased influenza and influenza vaccination awareness especially in children age 0-5 and facilitated the distribution of over 3,000 informative fliers to several DC and Virginia Head Start programs. The UCLA Anderson School of Management/Johnson & Johnson Health Care Institute partnered with the National Head Start Association to produce fliers describing, in both English and Spanish, influenza symptoms and various measures to prevent the spread of influenza among young children. These measures include sufficient sleep, hand-washing, and vaccination. The National Head Start Association gave the fliers to several Head Start programs throughout Virginia and DC, who then sent them home with the children in their program. Additionally, the fliers were given to over 1,800 attendees (the majority of whom were Head Start parents from across the country) at the 2009 NHSA Parent Training Conference held last December in San Jose, California.

Description

We will be hosting a mobile H1N1 clinic (the first mobile vaccine clinic in Albany County) on Saturday January 9. We were unable to secure other assets to have it the actual 'week' of the flu week. We will also be activing a POD site at the other end of town simultaneously to provide vaccine to all people regardless of where they live.
