Welcome to the CDC Team!
I am delighted that you are joining our dedicated staff. Every employee performs an important role in our agency. Each of your activities — every contact with members of the public, every paper that you handle, every interaction with a coworker or other public health professional — can help to improve the health and prolong the life of individuals.
CDC’s mission is to collaborate and develop the expertise, information and tools that people and communities need to protect their health through: health promotion; prevention of disease, injury and disability; and preparedness for new health threats.
CDC accomplishes its mission by working with partners nation – and worldwide to: monitor health; detect and investigate health problems; conduct research to enhance prevention; develop and advocate sound public health policies; implement prevention strategies; promote health behaviors; foster safe and healthful environments; and provide leadership and training.
Each of CDC’s component organizations conducts these core activities in carrying out its specific programs and bases its work on scientific excellence, requiring well-trained public health practitioners and leaders dedicated to high standards of quality and ethical practice.
CDC is at the forefront of public health innovation and has been so for many years. With your help and skills, we will continue to improve our ability to promote and protect the physical and mental health and well-being of people throughout the United States and around the world.
I look forward to working with you and to seeing what you accomplish as a member of CDC’s incredible workforce.
