Patients have a higher risk for getting a drug-resistant infection in a healthcare facility and are considered susceptible hosts if they:

	Have had previous exposure to treatment with antimicrobials
	Are very ill
	Are elderly
	Are undergoing invasive procedures
	Have underlying diseases or conditions
