From 1993 to 2009, hospital discharge rates for nontraumatic LEA above the knee among the diabetic population decreased for males and for females. In 2009, the hospital discharge rate for above knee amputation was 0.4 per 1,000 diabetic population for males and 0.3 per 1,000 diabetic population for females.
