Incidence of Diagnosed Diabetes per 1,000 Population Aged 18–79 Years, by Sex and Age, United States, 1997–2007

Due to small sample sizes of sex-age groups prior to 1997, incidence of diagnosed diabetes was estimated from 1997 to 2007. For men and women aged 18–44 years, incidence increased throughout the time period, however, no consistent trends were observed for other sex-age groups. In 2007, men aged 18–44 years had the lowest incidence (4.0 per 1000) and men aged 65–79 years had highest incidence (14.4 per 1,000).
