Age-Adjusted Hospital Discharge Rates for Ulcer/Inflammation/Infection (ULCER) as First-Listed Diagnosis per 1,000 Diabetic Population, United States, 1980-2003
In 2003, the age-adjusted discharge rate for ULCER was 6.9 per 1,000 diabetic population. Trends in the age-adjusted rate for ULCER showed a marked increase from 1980 to 1984, showed little change between the mid 1980’s and early 90’s, began to decrease between the years of 1995 to 1998, and then began to slightly increase thereafter.
