Number (in Thousands) of Hospital Discharges with Ulcer/Inflammation/Infection (ULCER) as First-Listed Diagnosis and Diabetes as Any-Listed Diagnosis, United States, 1980-2003

ULCER is a costly and disabling condition that can lead to lower extremity amputation. The number of discharges for ULCER increased from 1980 to 2003. In 2003, there were about 111,000 discharges for ULCER.
